GLA-55 Story
Since the Soundsticks® system, now part of the permanent collection of New York City’s Museum of Modern Art, Harman Kardon has been leading the way in the design and supply of high-quality loudspeakers for use in multimedia-rich computer systems. The GLA-55 is a stunning example of how this philosophy translates into execution.
“The idea of the GLA-55 started with the intent of creating a premium expression of sound, thinking at diamonds as the most obvious example of purity and best definition of luxury”, says Kurt Solland Vice President Design, the mind behind these speakers. Studying gemology, he learned the science and properties of precious stones and transformed his inspiration into reality.
The Harman Kardon design
and engineering teams worked in tandem to design the aesthetics for the GLA-55 system, with the ambition to create a system that truly brought high-performance audio to the computer, but also had stunning visual appeal.
